Register a Singapore Domain Name
Singapore domain names or web addresses are issued by the Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) Pte Ltd.
A Singapore domain name is any web address that ends with “.sg”.

A. Types of Domain Names:

- For Companies/Businesses.
Companies/ Businesses / Institutions seeking a Singapore domain name would need to have their company been registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) to qualify. Companies / businesses / institutions can register for the following Singapore domain name types:

- For Individuals
Individuals can register .per.sg and .sg domain types only. However they need to satisfy the the following requirements:

B. Can I register any domain name?

There are rules and guidelines that you need to follow:
1. You must be eligible to register the domain. E.g. only educational institutions registered with MOE can apply for “edu.sg” domains.
2. You must ensure your domain name does not infringe the rights of others, i.e. your domain name must not:
- Infringe any registered trade marks in Singapore.
- Be identical to or confusingly similar with registered trade marks or company/business names in Singapore.
- Infringe any third party rights under treaties or international agreements.
3. You must also ensure that your domain name does not contain:
- Any words or variations which suggest a link to the Government of Singapore.
- The words “SGNIC” or “NIC” and their variations.
- Any words or references which are obscene, scandalous, indecent or contrary to law or morality.
- Geographical names or names of countries.

C. How to check if a domain name is available?
You can check if your domain name is available by using the “Online Whois” tool provided by SGNIC.

D. How Much Time Does It Take To Register A Domain Name?
After your registration & payment (domain name has to be available when u register for it), usually takes about 48 hours before its activation.

E. Someone Else Has Registered My Domain. What Can I Do?
You can challenge the domain registration provided you can prove that you are legally entitled to the domain. For instance, you can challenge a domain name registration that infringes your trademark.
To challenge a domain name registration, please use the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (SDRP).
